Land south of Derritt Lane (August 2021)

Following public consultation earlier this year Wyatt Homes have now submitted a planning application to New Forest District Council (NFDC) for new homes and public open space on land to the south of Derritt Lane, Bransgore.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Summer 2021

An FAQ document HERE has been prepared which addresses the key themes arising through the comments received from the local community during the public consultation in February/March 2021.

NFDC is now carrying its own formal consultation on the submitted proposals prior to determination of the planning application. The application material is available to view on the Council’s website using application reference 21/11097.

Question 1: Did you know that the site is allocated for development in the New Forest Local Plan?

Question 2: The proposals are based on a series of key design and development principles. Please indicate how important you think these principles are below:

Dwellings set back from Derritt Lane with natural grassland edges allowing protection space for the mature trees.

Retention of hedgerow boundaries complemented with new native planting to create a ‘green and leafy’ feel.

Welcoming village green to the east marking an arrival to Bransgore and providing space for play and recreation.

Linear community parkland extending along the southern edge.

New cycle and footpath connections helping to integrate the development with the village.

Ponds and swales providing a sustainable system for managing surface water and encouraging biodiversity.

A rural character with informal lanes, driveways and small courtyard spaces fronted by cottages and ‘barn’ style dwellings.

Two vehicular access connections to Derritt Lane, positioned to minimise tree loss and to help slow traffic.

A balanced housing mix (apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached) to meet local needs.

Question 3: Are there parts of the scheme which you think could be improved?

Question 4: If you would like to make any further general comments, please do so below.
